How did that happen?

Does this make me a Pro now? Probably not.

So I kind of fell down a Magic the Gathering Arena hole last night and just kept playing standard over and over until I whoopsied into Mythic. For anyone that doesn’t play Arena “Mythic” is as high as you can get in their ranked system that starts in bronze and goes all the way through silver, gold, platinum, and diamond. Once you reach mythic your rank becomes a percentage (in my case 95%) that indicates how far you are from reaching the top 1000 in the world. As I win more games that percentage would go up until I would get a numbered rank when I crack the top 1000. I’ve never gotten this high in any game I’ve ever played that has a ranked queue, so I felt like giving myself a little recognition of the accomplishment. I doubt I am reaching such “dizzying heights” in Street Fighter or any game that isn’t turn based, and I probably owe the placement in large part to people playing several decks that my mono-black aggro deck is good against.

So for posterity I guess I could link my deck list. It is super good against the creature decks of the meta and loses 99% of the time to the control decks that don’t rely on creatures. I’m fine with it’s polarizing matchups as even the games I lose are over quickly. Here’s hoping the next few sets continue to give me more tools for monoblack aggro before rotation hits in September. Strixhaven was kinda a bust in that regard.
